About this book:

“Many consider Evangeline Hamilton cursed. Orphaned at a young age and possessing a pair of mismatched eyes--one bright blue, the other dark brown--Eva has fought to find her way in a world that constantly rejects her. Yet the support of even one person can help overcome the world's judgments, and Eva has two--Seth and Zach, two former orphans she now counts as brothers.

This book is SO GOOD!!!!! The beginning prologue is absolutely heartwrenching (I was tearing up, and I rarely do that). Then the rest of the book is so hilarious with plenty of action thrown in the mix. At this point, Karen Witemeyer has perfected her style of humor and action, a style I can't seem to get enough of. Even the characters' inner thoughts are worded very cleverly to create humor at points.

I loved the main characters, but I think my favorite character was Zach. I'm so excited that (

This was super cute. I loved Evangeline and her positive outlook. I also loved her brothers. And Logan. Let's just say that he has a lot of issues to work through, but I love how he works through them.

I'm hoping for a story about Zach.

I received a copy from the author to help promote. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

A new Karen Witemeyer book is something I always look forward to with great anticipation. It’s hard to pick favorites with Karen’s books, but More Than Meets the Eye is definitely high up on my list. And Evangeline is one of my favorite of Karen’s female characters, which is a big deal because I have trouble finding female protagonists I like. But Evangeline is just so happy and sweet you can’t help but like her. One of my favorite things about this book is the sibling relationship. I LOVE sibli ...more

A new Karen Witemeyer book....

04/10/2018- I just saw the cover today and I am sorely disappointed. This is such a far departure from previous Witemeyer novels and just sub-par for Bethany House in general. Mrs. Witemeyer's novels deserve better covers than this.

More Than Meets The Eye is a delightful historical Christian romance, with a touch of mystery, plenty of suspense, and a warm heart that celebrates family and belonging. From the gorgeous cover to the heartwarming story where family is the people you choose, More Than Meets The Eye was wonderful from start to finish.

Evangeline Hamilton knows the cost of heartbreak. Yet she chooses to remain optimistic, celebrating the family God gave her and the simply joys in life. When a stranger purc

Karen Witemeyer’s first book in the Patchwork Family series is a winner. The author grabs your attention with a tear-jerking prologue and hangs on to it all the way to the HEA epilogue. The spiritual lesson contained in this novel is presented in a way that is thought-provoking, but not preachy. It flows as a natural part of the story.
Evangeline has every reason to be bitter about the life card she has been dealt, but her temperament is just the opposite. She is loving, sweet, and grateful for a

I'm tellin' y'all, be prepared to cry! Whether it's from laughing or from being kicked in the feels. Karen BROUGHT IT with this book.

The prologue was a perfect set-up to an amazing story. We meet Evangeline when she's just 4 years old and constantly being looked over because of her mismatched eyes. Tragedy forces 3 orphans to build a patchwork family and try to survive on their own. HOW SAD IS THAT?!

Evangeline was such a spunky, kind of chaotic character that instantl

It pains me to say it, but they just released this book cover art and it is, hands down, THE WORST Karen Witemeyer cover I have ever seen! In fact, it is one of the worst Bethany House covers I have ever seen. What's happening??? BHP used to be celebrated for their stunning, original, beautiful covers. Lately, they all look like cheap, homemade self-published covers from the early 1990s. Why have their designs become so amateurish? VERY disappointing... especially for an author as wonderful as K ...more

Ahhhhhh.....This book makes my soul smile and my heart happy. I adore Karen's books(She is my favorite author for a reason) and this story is tied for 1st place with "Heart On The Line"(I love Amos <3) as my favorite books of her collection. I adored the spunky and sweet Eva and don't even get me started on the menfolk in this novel...between Logan, Zach, and Seth...cowboys with hearts of gold, the lot of them. From its heart wrenching prologue to its heartwarming epilogue, Karen Witemeyer’s latest book is a pure delight and arguably her best book yet. Who can resist a heroine with a penchant for rescuing strays, including a wild boar, and a hero who – despite his best intentions – falls head over heels in love with the one woman he is certain is absolutely wrong for him? I highly recommend this beautifully written romance. I’m waiting eagerly for the next of the Patchwork Family books.

Karen Witemeyer writes as good as Jane Austen for me. The same feelings and excitement I get from reading Pride and Prejudice, I get from Karens books. I am never dissapointed and I always am left wanting more. "To win her heart" and "Short straw bride" are a couple of my all time favorites. She writes Heroes and Heroines we want to get to know, cheer for and love.

"Vengeance doesn't heal pain, Logan. Love heals pain. Where is the love in what you are doing?"

Three orphans have decided to strike out on their own rather than wait for someone to adopt them off the orphan train. They become each other's family. Evangeline Hamilton, however, is considered cursed by many because of two different colored eyes. She and her brothers Zach and Seth have lived on a farm outside town and rarely see others. She is mocked and humiliated because of her eyes. But they have

A book that offers a lot of different things going on including, prejudice, murder, bootlegging, kidnapping, cheating, to name a few.
While this book begins on the orphan train, that is not the main focus of this story, yes, it is about the children’s survival, but mostly as adults.
We do get a bit of romance here, and it is really sweet with new beginnings, and you can see the faith of these people leading them.

More Than Meets the Eye is the beginning to Karen Witemeyer's new series, Patchwork Family. This one has got to be my favorite written her to date. It was full of humor that made me laugh so hard that I snorted. Not a good book to read in public, unless a reader does not embarrass easily. Logan and Evangeline were so much fun. Knowing how much I enjoy Karen Witemeyer's books, I requested a copy on NetGalley as soon as More Than Meets The Eye was available. This latest novel did not disappoint!

This captivating story starts off with a very emotional prologue. It was a fabulous introduction for rest of the book!

Moving forward into the chapters. we are re-introduced to the Hamilton siblings as adults. A rag-tag family built on solid devotion and trust, the trio have been on their own for many years with Zacharias, the eld

In her new series debut, Karen Witemeyer examines some characters with unique challenges.

Evangeline Hamilton has not had an easy life. She’s lost family and people steer away from her because of her unique eyes (one blue and one brown). Yet she has managed to carve her own happiness with her brothers in the town of Pecan Gap, Texas. And she has not let the tragedy nor the ignorance of people smother her joy.

Logan isn’t at all expecting to find someone like Evangeline in his search for justice. A

"Was he friend or foe? Only one way to find out. Spying."

And just like that, Evangeline Hamilton stumbles upon a strange man and his horse hanging out on the edge of her family's property. . . . . . . . or actually, he found her after a slight misunderstanding about a wild pig attack. There was something pleasantly curious about the handsome cowboy with the jagged scar and the "questioning brow", he didn't seem to think her mismatched eyes were an omen.

I love when an author can draw me right into the story and setting and make me feel like I'm there! Evie's background as an orphan on the orphan train is tragic, yet she uses her trials to strengthen her faith and stays optimistic. She has such a fun and funny personality, it was a pleasure to read about her mannerisms and special way of warming up even the most recalcitrant cowboy. More Than Meets the Eye is a fantastic tale of finding love in the American west that captured my heart from the start.

When she first steps on the orphan train, Evangeline – Evie – Hamilton is a tiny child full of dreams. Many believe her cursed, others believe her capable of casting curses with her disparate orbs. The love of one person can make a huge diffe
