The Patriot Bride was the story of Faith Jackson and Matthew Weber, both spies for the Patriot cause with a lot on the line. Faith Jackson grew up with her best friend, and later custodian, George Washington. Matthew Weber followed Benjamin Franklin, his mentor. The two come together when the cause arises for secret messages to be passed; however, Matthew has the advantage of being a spy for both the Patriots and the British through his friendship with William Franklin. I have thoroughly enjoyed this historical series by Barbour Publishing. This book, The Patriot Bride is about a young widow spying during the Revolutinary War. She falls in love with a fellow spy during the course of the book. It is filled with historical facts. The author definitely did her home work. I give this book three and a half stars.
*I was given a copy of this book by Barbour publishing and was not required to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.

“Every good citizen makes his country’s honor his own, and cherishes it not only as precious but as sacred. He is willing to risk his life in its defense and is conscious that he gains protection while he gives it.” –Andrew Jackson

I missed the first book in the series; however, each book works as a stand-a-lone as we work our way through history with the descendants of the Mayflower voyage. Rating: clean, faith-based.

This was truly an enjoyable book detailing the immense amount of subterfuge and danger the Patriots and even the Tories, I think, encountered as they fought for what they held dear. I loved how Faith Lytton Jackson is set up as a friend of George Washington, so we get to see much of this early American hero. I also enjoyed seeing insights into Ben Franklin and the rift in his family, imagining the hardship this would cause as many families were likewise torn asunder.

Faith is indeed a very brave,
History, romance and intrigue come together to create an engaging story in book four of the Daughters of the Mayflower series!
A little bit more of a connection to book one given this is the same author, which made this interesting. Chock full of historical facts and figures, but with a lot of play on actual conversations and events, made the story feel plausible. The author includes a nice introduction and end notes to help sort fact from fiction.

As spirited and stirring as the era it represents. In The Patriot Bride, duty and love compete and compel, heaping tension onto every page as endearing characters navigate their changing world. This timeless tale is destined to be beloved by fans of the history and romance of the Revolutionary Era.
The Patriot Bride is the fourth book in the Daughters of the Mayflower Series. This is the only book in the series that is written by an author who has written a previous book of the series. Kimberley Woodhouse is responsible for the debut novel, The Mayflower Bride as well as The Patriot Bride. I was not overly impressed with The Mayflower Bride, but I am really enjoying reading this series so I gave The Patriot Bride a chance. If you haven't read any book in this series, they can all be read a ...more

I never want to downplay how much work goes into a novel, and in that vein of thought I don't like to give a novel such a low rating when there is nothing inherently "wrong" or "bad" about it, but The Patriot Bride just wasn't the right book for me.
I felt like the characters had potential, but there weren't experiences that made them really come alive for me.
The plot felt like it was a bit too much along the lines of a history lecture than a novel at times, and while I know it wasn't marketed

I received a copy from NetGalley; this is my honest review. #TheMayflowerBride #NetGalley
-The author starts with an extravagant dedication to her son, lasting about 2 pages long. That kind of admiration could have been left to a more intimate setting, not in a book for all to see.
-There was not enough interaction between Matthew & Faith for us to see the friendship to love feelings taking place.
-Most of the actions were centered on the coming of the war, how they prepared for it and who was

I was so excited to read another of Daughters of the Mayflower Series. I knew The Patriot Bride would be exciting because Kimberley Woodhouse also wrote the first in this series, The Mayflower Bride. If you like a well written romantic, historical, fiction book, with lots of excitement and adventure, this is a must read.

Faith Jackson, a very rich widow and Matthew Weber, a close friend of George Washington are both spies for the Patriot cause. If you have read the other books in this series, Fa

I originally finished the first three books in this series within a week and was so bummed that I had to wait for the fourth book. BUT HERE IT IS! Continuing on down the ancestry line, we're now met with the looming Revolutionary War.

I loved the firey, independent Faith. And I adored that she found Matthew, a man that was hono

The Patriot Bride (Daughters of the Mayflower) by author Kimberley Woodhouse is a wonderful Christian faith-based story of events leading into the Revolutionary War. Even as a child Faith has enjoyed the strategy of battle and winning games against her fellow playmates which earns her the admiration of her young friend George Washington. Later young widow Faith Jackson fills the call for a messenger during the tense days leading up to the war in 1775. Because of her status in the town she has th ...more

Faith Lytton Jackson and Matthew Weber are devoted to the Patriot cause. The each accept missions that could get them killed, but are willing to sacrifice for the sake of freedom.

This was not my favorite of the series so far, in that it was covering so many months that it had to be a bit shallow. Due to this fact, (view spoiler)

What an excellent book to read over the July 4th holiday. At times I could smell and feel the surrounds as if I were there. The fear and the joy were real living emotions in a very well written novel of the beginnings of the American Revolution. The characters were very believable and really made me wish I could have known George Washington and Benjamin Franklin personally.
I appreciated Kimberley Woodhouse's inclusion of the Declaration of Independence at the close of the book. It was a perfect

I loved this book! The characters were wonderful! I loved Faith and her butler Clayton. I got to read about about George Washington and Ben Franklin mixed with a romance. The author had historical information mixed in with the romance, it teaches the reader what all our for fathers went through to give us the freedom we enjoy today. This book will give you a sense of pride for your country. I would give this book 10 stars if I could. Will definitely read more books from Kimberley Woodhouse!

I enjoyed "The Patriot Bride" just as much as I've loved the other books in this series. The historical background is excellent, and the plot and characters are well developed. I truly enjoy the main characters interactions with real life historical figures, and appreciated the insight into the part many civilians played during the Revolutionary War. This story kept my attention throughout. I highly recommend this book!

Thanks to Net Galley for a review copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I liked the premise – a widow spying for the Patriots and a Patriot hero ingratiating himself into Loyalist company to spy for colonists. Faith, a ward of George Washington himself, leads a group of Patriot ladies in coding and delivering messages to the Continental Army. Matthew, a dedicated Patriot, puts aside his loyalty and begins a campaign to spy on the British. Faith and Matthew meet many times, but there just wasn’t

A very charming addition to the Daughters of the Mayflower series - probably my favorite so far because I enjoy Colonial American history. The heroine and hero were delicious. I could have done without the huge full passages of Scripture, but seeing as this is Christian fiction, I knew to expect it, especially from this author.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

My Review

Genre: Christian, historical fiction

My Rating: 5 Stars.

Recommendation: 15+ up because of romance.

My favorite character/s: Matthew, Faith, Clayton, Marie, and more. I can't say that any character was more of a favorite, they were all favorites, I loved all of the characters.

My Verse for all of the characters is Romans 8:28

This is the fourth book in the Daughters of the Mayflower Series. As I have enjoyed the other books in this series, I found this one to be fantastic as well! This book’s time frame occurs during the United States’ fight for independence. The main character centers on Faith Jackson, a widow. Faith is a woman of independence and courage who is willing to help her friends and those in need even to her determent. Matthew Weber is a spy who Faith befriends. I have been enjoying the Daughters of the Mayflower series since the very first book The Mayflower Bride (also by Kimberley Woodhouse) and I am still enjoying them!

The Pirate Bride (to be released August 1, 2018) required a lot of research and inspiration for the author as she had to get inside the heads of some very real and important historical figures - Benjamin Franklin and George Washington for instance! But, rest assured the author did a wonderful job.

The Patriot Bride is an excellent choice for any who like historical, Christian fiction. It shows faith and trust in hard times. It weaves history and historical figures in with a few fictitious figures into a very compelling story you won't want to quit reading.

The characters were delightfully developed and given good personalities. The story was told so that you felt you were there.

I was slightly disappointed in the ending, partly because I didn't want it to end and partly because it left a l

Secrecy. Spies. War. Author Kimberely Woodhouse did an excellent job in writing this story about Faith and Matthew, and it will keep you on the edge until the very end. Faith's childhood and early story of marriage will help you fall in love with her as a person. Then, Matthew, who definitely is a hero! Both step up to serve their country in ways that only brave people would do, risking who they are and betrayal by those closest to them.
